Old World Pillar Candle Holder

Gosh, I've taken a blogging break for a while now. Where does time go? It seems that I've been covered up in work for the Antique shops and just keeping things up around our home during the summer months that I just haven't taken the time until now to get back to blogging.
I've worked on tons of projects but didn't take many photos. Especially before photos, I'm so bad about that!
Here's something that I finished lately. I love this ornate pillar candle holder that I purchased at an Antique shop some time ago. She came to me solid white, I knew she would look much better with some color.

She looks much more beautiful with color than she did just plain white. Adding greens, blues, browns, pinks, gold and giving her a nice wash in watered down brown really changed her looks.
Making her look old world really sets off the details.
I feel like I've really stepped back in time looking at her.

I love how she turned out. Now she proudly sits in our Antique booth waiting for her new home. Or I may just bring her back home with me because I really do love her new look.

Have you tried doing any washes to add color to boring items? This was a fun project that really changed the original pillar candle holder. What do you think of her?

I purchase an adorable concrete cherub the other day with the hopes of doing something similar to it. I promise to take before photos when I start working on it.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit!
