Walk Across Texas 2012

Well, that time of year is here again. Time to put those walking shoes on for the Walk Across Texas 8 week walk-a-thon covering 830 miles! Starting date is 9-15-12 until 11-10-12 for our area. 
If you've never heard of Walk Across Texas, it's a program designed to help Texans establish the habit of regular physical activity.

Walk Across Texas! is recognized as a Best Practice Physical Activity Program by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

So for the next 8 weeks, I'll be walking more than my usual. My daughter and I are going to see if the two of us can do the 830 miles total together. That will mean morning walks and most likely late afternoon walks too. 

fitbit ultra

I'll be keeping up with my progress with my Fitbit Ultra. Have you ever heard of them?? Oh, I love my little Fitbit. I've had one for several months now. I absolutely love being able to look at each day and know just how many miles that I've walked, how active I've been or as some days~how active I've not been. It's a real motivator, that's for sure. Another thing that is great about the Fitbit is that you are sent a weekly progress report via email letting you know exactly how many miles that you've completed in a week plus other tidbits of info. If you've not heard of this little gadget, look it up and read all about it. (Disclaimer~I'm not trying to sell these, not paid for my opinion or anything else to do with Fitbit) I purchased mine outright, in fact bought two of them. One for me and the other for my daughter. We purchased ours at Best Buy.

Speaking of my daughter, I'm hoping that she does a blog post also about our Walk Across Texas adventure. Now let's also remember that she's only 16 years old, so I fully expect her to walk circles around know I'm not a young chickadee anymore! Though she will keep me motivated to just keep on..keeping on. :0) She has that Go-Go Spirit about her!

Each week, I'll share my totals from the previous week when I get my Fitbit report. Sharing will keep me accountable. Right??
