No stealing allowed-Testing

I'm sure many of you have read this week about lots of bloggers having their content stolen by others. It's such a shame and saddening that this goes on. I, myself am a fairly new blogger but I also don't want others to steal my content for them to make a profit. I work very hard on my projects and just as hard on taking photos, editing them to put my name on each photo, writing post and the list goes on and on. Anyone that blogs knows the time involved, so they sure don't want someone else reaping the benefits of their hard work. I don't make money on my blog, (not saying I wouldn't like to some day) my benefits are folks like you that are reading my blog and leaving nice comments.
So what's a girl to do???

After reading a post over at Between Naps on the Porch last Saturday. I got a little worried if the same thing could be happening to me. I know that I'm a small blogger but that doesn't mean that I want my hard work stolen either. So I started researching on the internet how to change things in blogger. Finally on Monday morning, I figured out how to add a footer to my RSS feed and E-mails. It's not that complicated to do, but when you're not computer savvy it's work figuring out all this stuff. I was quite proud of figuring out the post footer by myself but I still didn't know how to truncate a feed or really what that even meant.
But today, I ran across Gina's post over at The Shabby Creek Cottage showing "How to truncate your RSS feed on blogger with a photo". Joy oh joy, I couldn't click that link fast enough. Also Gina will direct you to Shelly from The House of Smiths for more info.
You may already know how to do all this fancy stuff. I didn't and it was a workout for me to figure out how to do a footer.
It's not right to steal BUT it is right to try to protect yourself from thieves that want to steal your content and photos for their own gain. I hope that I post enough valuable content that you will want to take the extra steps to read my blog and to keep coming back. I'm a work in progress and I am striving to get better. I hope that my readers understand why I'm changing up how my posts, emails and RSS feed show.
Here's crossing my fingers that this post comes through correctly. I guess I will see after I hit submit. Taking a deep breath...

From the Heart,
Jana

  1. I completely understand and respect that - I think I really need to research things too - I am new and learning too - but would be REALLY UPSET if I found my stuff stolen - whew - big time.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you never experience what poor Susan did at BNOTP - wow, poor gal!

    1. Michele,
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving encouraging words. It means a lot to me that people understand. Yes, poor Susan, she is the one that got me to really thinking that I wanted to make a change now, while still a new blogger, than to wait and be sad that I took too long to protect myself.
We bloggers have to stick together for what is "right".

Thanks again and have a great evening,

  5. Hi Jana,
Great post, I just don't understand why folks have to do that, we all work so hard at sharing our recipes and our life with others. I am still not clear on how you find out if it is happening to you?? Hope you are having a great holiday and thanks for sharing.

  6. Hey Jana, I've also been hearing and reading a lot about this problem. Seems us honest folk can't catch a break, can't even buy sinus meds with out an ID, because of the "bad guys". Thanks for posting this informative info!
