Don't you just hate it when an electrical appliance goes out, especially when you're not prepared for that to happen. I guess you're never prepared but still a little warning would be great. Like some kind of button on the appliance that pops out and says "Warning~May be shutting down soon so get ready"
This week one of our up-right deep freezers decided it was time to bite the dust. First it was the ice cream, it was very soft but since the ice cream was just purchased, I thought maybe someone just didn't shut the door good, all our other items were frozen rock solid.
Then the next day, other items were getting a little soft and by the third day it was like we had a refrigerator instead of a freezer. Needless to say, I was going through picking out items that would fit into one of our other freezers (which by the way are too full to add anything else). We lost a lot of meat and all of our peas and corn that we grew. The picture you see is just 1 of the 6 bucket loads that we gave to our chickens of the fresh home grown veggies. Yes....sad that so much work is down the drain. Tilling, planting, watering, picking, shelling, shucking, blanching and bagging in seal-a-meal bags, not to count the electrical cost involved in keeping those babies Frozen. At least I have happy chickens this week!!
The plus side to all of this is that now I have room for my husband to build me a tall shelf where the freezer was to house some of my many kitchen items that don't get used that often. My husband said he just didn't know what to do without having another "Honey-do" project, somehow I think he was kidding with me. Still, can hardly wait for my new handy dandy shelf.
From the Heart,
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
