Mello Yellow Hand Painted Bench

Painted yellow teak wood bench

Since I refurbished and painted our Adirondack chairs I also wanted to do one of our benches to match. Our Teak wood bench had a rather weathered look, especially since it has been in the weather for a couple of years and it was beginning to show lots of aging.
First it was sandblasted because the varnish that was on it was curling up and sanding Teak is a little too time consuming. Then I patched anywhere it needed with wood putty, sanded those areas then primed it with two good coats, the wood was really dry so it sucked the primer right up plus I wanted the bench to have a good under-coat on before painting.

Here I am sandblasting the bench. Ignore my ugly paint shirt but don't you just love the hood and gloves? I'm surely styling here! Altho a must when you're sandblasting for safety reasons.

You can see here all the places that needed wood putty. Now I have to sand the putty, blow off the bench well and wipe down before painting starts.
I painted the bench the same color yellow as I did one of our Adirondack chairs.(B11-3 Forsythia Blossom, mixed with Valspar brand paint) I love this color, it's such a calm and relaxing color. I paired it with white for the back of the bench, I think the two colors go together well and have a homey feel. What do you think?

I'm also in the middle of doing another project that will go along with this bench somewhere in our yard. Come back in a day or two to see the finished piece. It's a fun one!!

From the Heart,
Jana

  1. I love the yellow & white color! It was worth all the effort. I need something like this to brighten up my shady area. Wish I could find one like this at a garage sale (in my price range).

    1. Spreepepper,

Sorry that I couldn't send you an email but it shows that you're a no-reply blogger, so I hope you see this.
I purchased the bench sometime ago at Sam's club. I only seen them there the year that I bought it so I don't know if other Sam's have them now. Also, I don't know the brand name of it although it is a solid teak wood bench. Maybe you could call around to find one. Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by.
